Global design firm Stantec signs letter of intent to acquire 600-person, Australian-based Wood & Grieve Engineers
October 18, 2018
Based in Perth, Australia, Wood & Grieve Engineers (“WGE”) is a 600-person, award-winning, buildings engineering-focused consulting services company, providing structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulics engineering, and a broad range of related specialty services for clients throughout Australia.
The transaction is subject to due diligence and is expected to close in January 2019.
Andrej Avelini and Tyler Albright, during their association prior to forming AEC Advisors, advised WGE on this transaction with Stantec. They were also supported in Australia by Paul Dougas, the former CEO of SKM. Andrej and Tyler have recently founded their own firm, AEC Advisors, along with Josh Lahre and Joe Smetona, to provide M&A advisory, valuation, performance benchmarking, and ownership transition services to the AEC industry.
“It was a real pleasure working with Andrej and Tyler, I found them to be well connected in the industry, well informed, very helpful at all times and extremely professional,” said Jose Granado, Chief Executive Officer of WGE.
Comments from original press release:
“WGE brings the creative culture, demonstrated expertise, and regional presence to help us continually serve communities throughout Australia with an expanded array of services and reach into new sectors,” said Gord Johnston, Stantec president and chief executive officer. “Together, our teams will successfully support some of the largest, most critically important infrastructure projects in the region.”
“Like Stantec, we share a passion for the culture and talent that define our teams. We see this as an incredible opportunity for our staff to enjoy growth opportunities within a global network while extending our capabilities to grow and support markets in our resident region,” said Jose Granado, WGE chief executive officer.
